Seeing as it's been discussed in a thread, should we try to make a collaborative effort to create a game? At least 3 of us want to be game developers, so should we do it?

If we are going to do this we need to think of,

A style/idea,
Software to make it,
Software to share amongst each other,
and other things...


I personally would love to make an Elithian Style Pokemon game but with more complex evolution families...
And making it in Game maker (An aid in making 2d games! Its got quite a good support from various sites!)
and using Dropbox to share the files, amongst the programmers!


The game could take place, within various cities, with spaceships, to other cites/sites of interest! The story behind the wide variety of quickly-evolving monsters? Guinstinite based lifeforms created by the Notix as pets, which have an in built death system. When badly injured they will simply stop moving and go into a comatose state, which is reversible by adding more Guinstinite radiated water... This allows for safer battling since the creatures do not wish to hurt other injured creatures...

Of course we would need to plan what species turns into what! Also I suggest no Sentient specieses as Pokemon...


Also, we will need some sprite artists, and some other people to help come up with playable areas!

Well, the creature pool can't be restricted to only Notix pets, it'd be kind of unrepresentative and boring, at least in my opinion. I also believe that the pokemon concept doesn't really fit in Elithian universe. No offense, but that's my feeling.

Of course, you at least have an idea, whilst I have none, so I'll give you that credit! I'll try to think of something, though. Anyways, I believe an Elithian-based game is an awesome idea!

The pets where then sold to many races where they adapted into main specieses... And I know what you mean... I just couldn't think of anything better...

Any other ideas would be appreciated...

I was thinking of using the Darkness in the game.... They've always been in the T.A. History. But, actually this is all about the Elithian Alliance, so I don't know.

If we did a game, we could easily include cities or site of interest for several races... Perhaps the TA are under ttck by the darkness at the time of your visit...

Perhaps, add the functionality to use the caught creatures as bio-weapons against non-capturable adversaries... Such as Darkness Warriors etc

Well that is if we go ahead and make it...

For locations I would suggest,

2 cities on Elithia and 3 Environments (Maybe 1 science lab?) (Natural/Aeginian Creatures)
1 city of TA control and the battlefield/environment (Darkness/TA creatures)
1 Notician City and nearby science base (and environment between) (Notician Creatures)
1 Dremeton City, the area around it and the colony on Icicle (Dremeton Creatures + Fish)
1 Visit to Snowcloud 5 (Robotic Creatures)

But that's just me!

The T.A. Creatures would mainly be Reptilian, Arachnids and Birds. Also the city would be Gardens of Athana, and the other place would be New Creon Ruins.

I'd love to work on such a game with you guys, so I'm in. I will be a designer, and I can also do some of the basic game mechanics in Game Maker 8, but I won't do any programming (No experience at all, and I am aiming for a study on Game Design after all).

Allthough the Pokemon-like style may not seem to fit in with the Elithian Alliance, I think that if it is done correctly, it can be a great addition to the game. But first things first:

-Will the game be top-down or side-scrolling? I am assuming we build a 2D game, as 3D games are incredibly hard to make using Game Maker.
-What resolution will we use? Do we use mainly 16x16 sprites, 32x32, 32x64 or even bigger?
-Of what species will the main character be? Will he (or she) be an Aegi, a Notix, a Dremeton or something else?
-What kind of battle system will we use? Something where you press a certain button and execute a certain attack on the normal map/field? Or something like Final Fantasy, using turn-based battles and commands that can be chosen in a menu?

Don't worry, I'm okay at programming in GML (Game Maker Language) and my other game making rl friends would definitely help me if I get stuck! (Which is why I proposed GM, I have experience in it and help if needed!)

-Top-down, PKMN style, so it scrolls as you move with various screens! (That cant be That hard...)
-16x16 out of battle, 64x64 in battle?
-I think Aegi, and have a girl/boy option (Easy body shape, signature species of the Alliance)
-I haven't put too much thought into this... Turn based button clicking seems the easiest...

I agree on using 16x16 on the map/field and 64x64 in battle, if we decide to do the turn-based battles. I think though that fighting directly on the field is easier, as you don't need to show a new screen when battling. But as I'm not very experienced at Gamemaker programming, I can't be sure about what will be easiest. But how will you have the game remember where your character was before he/she engaged in battle?

I have made a few sprites for the male Aegi character (16x16 each):

Fighting infield could cause problems, but could work, (and would mean we only need 16x16 sprites ie less work...)

Likewise the new screen would be quite hard to pull off, but once made would be hard to break...

I do like the idea of Infield fighting though, perhaps you could summon the Monsters (BioGuin) into the field and have there different moves (8 max?) actually have areas of effect!

For example,
Move - Range - Power - Effect
Charge Blade - 3 Squares Forward - 30 - Moves Monster 3 squares forward, unless it would collide with something.


The sprites are epic! (Well better than I can do... I can only do robots... Theres an idea!)



Also should we start designing a few Monsters?
