Roleplay Lore - The Aeduri

The Aeduri
High Elves of Enethea and Aedana

History

According to legend, the Aeduri are descendants of the creations of the Aezathera of Life, Panafor (also called Panfora). These creations were called the Promuri, which is Bomuri for proto-elves. All Promuri lived in Enethea before the event known as 'the Fracturing', when the province of Aedana broke loose form the rest of Enethea. The Promuri who remained in Enethea developed into a number of Elven races, of which the Bomur is the best-known. The Promuri who were trapped in Aedana developed into the modern Aeduri.

Some 4500 years ago, many thousands of years after the Fracturing, a mysterious event forced the Aeduri to build great ships, and return to Enethea. They crossed the Sea of the Serpent with relative ease thanks to their incredibly well-built ships, and landed on the shores of Gaekylha, to the exact place where Aedana started to break loose from Enethea. The Aeduri, believing the place was sacred, moved further inland, and built their first Gaekylhan settlement, Gardenhall, which has remained their capital to this day.

Until some 2000 years ago, the Aeduri were the only Elves in all of Gaekylha. Then came the Bomur, in an attempt to escape the Third Wood Crisis, a massive forest fire in Rhahinelm. The Bomur settled in Baerdel, where they found an abandoned Aeduri settlement. At first, the Bomur seemed like a threat to the Aeduri, who hadn't seen other Elves before. The Aeduri attacked the Bomur on several occasions, but the Bomur never counter-attacked. Soon enough, the Aeduri realized that their Elven cousins did not mean to harm them, and sent a number of representatives to the Bomuri village. Over the following years, relations between the two Elven populations started to improve, and they have lived in peace with each other ever since.

The First Invasion, where the Dhaguran Empire first sought to conquer Gaekylha, led to the formation of the Elven Coalition, which marked the beginning of an everlasting alliance between the Bomur and the Aeduri: The Gad'en Ara, which is Bomuri for 'the Divine Skies'. The name refers to the Battle of Gridania, where the Elves rained down arrows upon their enemies, and finally defeated the Draton. According to several Elven legends, the Aezathera themselves assisted the Elves in their fight.

After their great victory over the Dratons, the Aeduri began developing better ways to defend themselves, knowing that the Draton were likely to return one day. More powerful walls were made, sharper swords were forged, and with the help of the Bomur, amazingly strong bows were crafted. Development of new ships also started: the Aeduri wished to revisit their long-lost homeland of Aedana. Over the past 300 years, several fleets have left for the lost province, but none returned so far.

Gardenhall

Gardenhall is the name of the only registered Aeduri settlement in all of Gaekylha. It was recently hit by a tornado that devastated most of the town, and killed many citizens. Many residences were lost, and the Museum, the Library and several shops were wiped from existence.

Gardenhall has been the Aeduri capital for many ages, and it has always been the home to their ruler, or 'Kaden' in the Aeduri language. Some of the most well-known clans of Gardenhall are:
The Serois Family
The Hovael Family
The Avego Family
The Atenon Family
The Dagyn Family

You do not have to memorize every name, but being able to recognise them could be useful.
