Elithian Alliance Roleplay - Third Anniversary!

The Elithian Alliance Roleplay is three years old today! Time for some celebrations!

As surprise for this special day, I have prepared something you must have already noticed: an all-new theme for the forum, complete with new buttons, logos, and more!
The forum used to be a PHPBB2 forum, but it's now been updated to PHPBB3, meaning it should perform better and have a better security.

Some other things that hae been added:

Three new smilies!
- - The THEA Symbol of Unity
- - The golden THEA Coin
- - The Minecraft Logo
They can all be found under the 'Elithian Smilies' tabs in the emoticons menu.

All new Award Badge system! Some forum users deserve special gifts, and that's where these Badges come in! There are:
- - The Goldmember Badge - These Badges are earned by: being a long time member, being a very active member (not a spamming one, of course!), being of great use to the forum (recruiting new, active members, for example), and more!
- - Moderator Badge - These Badges make it easier to identify the moderators of the forum!
- - Administrator Badge - These Badges make it easier to identify the Administrators of the forum!
- - Donator Badge - These Badges will be given to donators of the forum. Once the roleplay is ready to begin, we will have to get ourselves a dedicated 24/7 server again. These badges will be given to people who donate money to the server, and of course, to the server owner.


The forum now also has a 'report post' function, with which members can report posts to moderators and administrators. Moderators can also lock reports for posts: this prevents a post from being reported.

my first reaction, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE FORUMS! and then I was like, I can roll with this. Finally I was like, this is actuallt pretty awesome!

I came on on the forums after church, and I was like Whoa! This is really cool, I like the modern streamlined theme! Like the Badges, like everything!

The forum looks really awesome, it looks more smooth, and a lot cleaner! I really like the design. The badges are pretty cool, maybe we could make some for any contests won?
And I apologize for not being on very often, I try to check what's new every now and then but I with school and work it's a bit hard to.

I'm glad you're all enjoying the changes! I'll probably be making a few more minor changes in the coming weeks (one of the buttons I haven't been able to texture yet is a 'Thanks' button for topics, for example).

Excuse me for the two-week absence due to a trip to Italy. What is going on with the Elithian Alliance now? Minecraft servers, LittleBigPlanet, rps, others?

I'm glad to see you again, I feared you had left again! These are the major things we have going on right now:

The continuation of the original forum roleplay, the Fabula Nova Elithias, is still ongoing, if a bit slowly... We also have a Minecraft roleplay in the works, but that one has been rather inactive too. I hope we can continue working on it soon, but Bukkit is still working on a stable 1.6 Build, and I've had some trouble getting the server running due to IP configuration settings getting reset constantly.

Notix, Necro, Jorgas and me have also recently started playing Civilization V matches together. I have built a few custom, Elithian Alliance-inspired maps for us to play on, and as soon as Jorgas gets back from his vacation, we'll continue the current match on Elithia.

We also have an empire in Shores of Hazeron now, but performance issues with the game have kept me from playing it.

@Aeg: I really don't know how to jump back in the new RP. Hopefully you can figure out how to fix the server issues sometime soon, we need to start up the server sometime before summer ends. Iz very important.

I haven't had time to try and fix the server issues today, I'll try tomorrow. Do mind that the server will be 1.5.2 once it's running again, as there's no stable Bukkit build for 1.6 yet.

As for the the roleplay: I had some trouble with it too. I re-read all of the posts made so far, and wrote myself a small document specifying what my ship is going to to in the near future. Having such a document, however short, is really useful when posts are few and far between, as I tend to forget what I was planning to do after such a long period of inactivity.

I wouldn't mind having it be 1.5.2, but those horses will really make the server! And whatever else 1.6 adds. I also noticed some of the textures for Dokucraft 1.6 aren't creepy anymore!

I think I fixed the server issues, but I can't test it myself as Minecraft 1.5.2 keeps crashing... The server should be online now, though.

I would never be so cruel to announce my return only to abandon you once more!

That's all really good. I had seen Fabula Nova Elithia had quite a different setting from what I had been used to, so what exactly has changed in the plot and rules of the Rp?

I really hope you can get a Minecraft server running and remain stable, as that I could certainly join. Are there any sandbox servers you still operate?
It's unfortunate but I don't have Civilization V. Shores of Hazeron though seems really interesting. Sort of like a revisited Spore. Is it free-to-play, and is it a multiplayer game?

Shores of Hazeron is free, free to play and multiplayer. I haven't been on it in a while, due to camp and vacation right now. You would have to ask Kingnecro if you want to join our empire on there.

Fabula Nova Elithias is quite different, yeah: The original roleplay was ended by an event known as 'the Blast', in which a massive amount of energy was released from the Sphere. The event devastated much of the universe, and brought many great empires to their knees: the Elithian Alliance fell and the Thelean Dominion was shattered. The FNE is set 2000 Aerii after the Blast, with the first Aeginian spaceship to leave the planet marking the start of the new roleplay. Now, many empires are starting to regain some of their strength, and the survivors of the Blast are attempting to rebuild their civilizations.
Unlike in the original roleplay, in which we controlled one or more empires, we now control only single ships, and their crews. Messages are sent from ship to ship, and with the Alliance Network still down, communication is often slow and unstable.

As for Minecraft, we currently only have a roleplay server in the works. There are still a number of villages and cities to be completed, and lore to be written, but we don't have any pure sandbox servers right now.

Shores of Hazeron is free to play and has online multiplayer. I won't be able to play it until the game's performance is improved (I currently have an input lag of multiple seconds), but it's certainly very interesting, and could make for a fun game to play together if it ran a bit faster...

If I could get someone to help me finish up New Frostholm for the roleplay, would be much appreciated! When I get back from vacation of course. I could help anyone else who still isn't done with their buildings once I'm done.

Veoline, I am not sure if you are aware of this, (since, well, I'm not in your head ) but an incredibly handy new feature of the forum is to your right. It's called recent topics, and is the easiest thing to use. In fact, I almost only use it to navigate. (Except for when I have to go to older threads :/)

@Jorgas: I'd be glad to help you finish New Frostholm when you get back!

I may be back on Sunday, but it will probably be too late for you anyways. I'll definetly be there on Monday though.

I am also in need of help for completion, but I was thinking that I could turn the palace into the base of a "sky city". It would tie in nicely with my faction's airships, and would bring a nice element to the world.

By sky city I guess you could compare it too Columbia from Bioshock:Infinite. That is the most well-known example I could think of. So basically a bunch of buildings tied together and hovering on big lumps of wool-block.

I'll ask then: Dear Kingnecro, what is the forum's empire in Shores of Hazeron?

I really like the premises of the new version of the Rp. It really allows more depth in the story, characters and exploration of their society.
What exactly is the explanation for the Blast? And so which factions and ships exist in the story? Also, should I have anything special to know about the Dremetons? Where's the story at at the moment, and the relations between the species? Is there still some sort of Elithian alliance?

Would you need any help for the construction of the server and the writing of the background information? What would be the timeperiod?

@King: I do have to say one thing to you King, we're finishing up the server right now.

@Veo: Most of the server is using a more medeival/fantasy style, but everywhere has it's own kind of building around the world. You'll just need to see all the places.
